Fishing & Angling
Fishing & angling on Lake Millstatt
A paradise for anglers and one of Austria's most fish-rich lakes
Lake Millstätter See lies quietly in the beautiful Carinthian countryside. Overlooked as a whole from the terrace of the Alexanderhof, Lake Millstatt offers ideal conditions for amateur anglers of all sizes. The depth of the lake and its orientation make it a paradise for a variety of native fish species, especially the whitefish. Many motivated amateur anglers from all over the world come to Carinthia every year to try their luck on Lake Millstatt.
Long, deep & sheltered from the wind
The conditions couldn't be better. Lake Millstatt is long and reaches a length of 25.5 km. Its depth increases from west to east to a depth of 142 meters, which also keeps the water temperature constant. Wind does not have much of a chance on our lake, its location is sheltered from the wind, which means that it does not heat up too much at depth in summer. All in all, perfect conditions for fishing. The many shady areas and trees and obstacles in the water provide shelter for many great fish. A number of interesting challenges await good anglers.
